We stood near the door and looked around. A waiter smiled and said there were some seats at the back if we did not mind the noise. I asked if there was any quiet corner, but he said many people came at this hour.
We walked past some students with laptops. Nina asked if any of them were from our school. I said some faces looked familiar but I did not know many names. She said she recognized some girls from the art club.
At the counter Nina ordered some tea with lemon. I asked for some soup and some bread because I felt cold outside. The cashier asked if we wanted any dessert today. I said not today because I did not have much money in my wallet.
While we waited Nina asked if the café had any free Wi-Fi. I checked my phone and said yes, but the signal was not very strong. She said she needed some time to read some pages for history class. I said I had some notes to review too.
The waiter brought our drinks and asked if we needed any spoons. Nina said she did not need any because her tea was clear. I asked if he had any extra napkins. He gave us some napkins from a stack near the counter.
Some music played softly from a small speaker. Nina said she liked some of the songs but not all of them. I said I did not hear much lyrics because people talked loudly at some tables. She laughed and said many voices mixed in the air.
Our soup arrived hot and smooth. I asked if Nina wanted some bread from my plate. She said she had some crackers in her bag and would eat some with her tea. I tasted the soup and said there was not much salt, but the flavour was still good.
A man at the next table asked the waiter if there was any milk without lactose. The waiter said they had some oat milk and some almond milk. The man thanked him and said he could not drink much regular milk.
Nina opened her book and asked if I had any questions about the chapter. I said some parts were easy but some dates were hard. She explained some events from the text and said many students confused those names on tests.
I looked at the clock and asked if we had any time before the bus. Nina said we had some minutes, not much, but enough for a short review. I wrote some words on a napkin and read them twice.
Before we left I asked the waiter if they had any loyalty cards. He said new cards arrived yesterday and gave us some forms.
