I am Nina. During school holidays I often visit my grandparents in a small town two hours from our city. I travel with my parents on Friday evening, and we arrive at their house at nine because traffic is heavy on the motorway.

Grandma waits for us at the door, and she hugs me tightly because she misses me between visits. Grandpa sits in his chair in the living room, and he smiles when I bring him the book he asked for last time.

Do you stay with grandparents in summer? I like sleeping in the guest room because the window looks over a quiet garden with apple trees. My cousin Eva visits too on some holidays, and we share stories before sleep at ten at night.

On Saturday morning Grandma cooks pancakes at eight, and she serves them with jam because Grandpa loves sweet breakfasts. I help her set cups on the table, and I pour juice for Eva when she joins us in her pyjamas.

Grandpa likes telling old stories about the town, and he shows us photos from his youth in the afternoon. He points to faces in black and white pictures, and he names each friend because memory keeps them close to him.

Does Eva like gardening with Grandma? She does not enjoy weeding for long hours, but she loves picking flowers in May when colours fill the beds near the fence. Grandma teaches her gently, and Eva thanks her because the lessons feel patient and kind.

At noon we walk to the market in the town centre on Market Street. Dad buys cheese and bread, and Mom chooses fruit because prices are lower on Saturday mornings. Grandpa carries bags for her, and he rests on a bench at one o'clock when his knees feel tired.

In the afternoon I read on the porch, and Eva draws pictures of the cat that sleeps in the sun. Grandma brings us tea at four, and she asks if we want biscuits because the tin is full after her baking on Thursday.

Do your grandparents live far from you? Mine do not live in our city, but I like the journey because the countryside feels peaceful after noisy streets at home. Eva and I enjoy slow days there, and we help with small tasks because family support matters.

On Sunday we pack our bags at six in the evening, and Grandma gives me a scarf she knitted in winter. I hug her again, and I promise to call her on Wednesday because she likes hearing news from school.

Grandpa walks us to the car, and he waves until we turn the corner on Hill Road. Mom drives carefully in the dark, and Dad plays soft music because the day ended with warm goodbyes.

I do not visit every month, but holidays with my grandparents stay special in my memory. I like their house, their stories, and the time they give me without rush. Do you call your grandparents often?
