The owner Mrs Vega welcomed us with tea, and she explained breakfast times because guests eat together at eight on Saturdays in the dining room. I liked the wooden rooms, and my partner loved the view from the balcony over misty valleys at sunrise.
On Saturday morning we walked to a waterfall near the trailhead at ten, and we met hikers from another region who shared maps because paths forked near an old bridge. One woman told us about wildflowers in May, and she recommended a cafe in the village square for lunch at one o'clock.
Do you take short trips to reset your week? We usually stay in town on weekends, but this journey felt refreshing because slow pace helped us talk without phones on the table. I do not check work email on trips, and my partner does not either when mountains surround us with silence.
At the cafe we ordered soup and bread, and the waiter brought extra olives because Mrs Vega mentioned our names when we reserved tables by phone on Thursday. We thanked him, and we watched locals greet each other on the square where a market opens on the first Sunday of each month.
In the afternoon we read on the terrace, and rain started briefly at four before sun returned over the ridge. My partner enjoys sketching landscapes, and I like writing notes about sounds in the forest when wind moves through pines above the path.
On Sunday we packed at seven, and Mrs Vega gave us jars of honey because she appreciated polite guests who cleaned rooms before leaving. We drove home slowly on country roads, and we stopped at a lake for photos when light turned soft near five in the evening.
Back in the city on Monday we felt calmer at work, and colleagues noticed our mood because smiles came easier after rest. I still think about that village when weeks grow heavy, and I plan another visit in autumn when leaves change colour on slopes we saw from the guesthouse window.
The trip did not solve every problem, but it reminded us that small journeys create space for conversation, curiosity, and habits we forget when alarms control each hour at home.
