Anna: I cannot believe how long it has been. Have you really not visited this neighbourhood since you had moved to the suburbs?
Ben: Not often. Commuting has consumed my evenings since the promotion had started. I had forgotten how noisy this street becomes at lunchtime.
Anna: You look tired. Has work improved since they had restructured the department?
Ben: Somewhat. My new manager has supported projects I had proposed months ago. Still, deadlines have piled up faster than our team has grown.
Anna: I have heard that from others in your sector. Companies have demanded results they had not expected before the market had shifted.
Ben: Exactly. How has your studio performed since you had opened the second location?
Anna: Better than I had hoped, honestly. Client numbers have risen because referrals have increased since we had redesigned the website.
Ben: Have you hired more staff?
Anna: Two designers joined in March. Both had worked remotely for agencies abroad before they had returned home. Their experience has strengthened portfolios we had struggled to finish last year.
Ben: That sounds promising. Have you had time for anything outside work?
Anna: I have been taking pottery classes since January. The instructor had taught ceramics in Lisbon before she had moved here. Sessions have become the calmest hours of my week.
Ben: I have thought about hobbies I had abandoned after university. Photography was one. My camera has collected dust since the trip we had taken to Scotland.
Anna: You should bring it next weekend. The cherry blossoms have opened in the park, and light has looked perfect in the mornings since Tuesday.
Ben: Maybe I will. I have missed conversations like this since our group had stopped meeting regularly.
Anna: We have all drifted into busy routines. Still, friendships that had survived distance have mattered most when life has become complicated.
Ben: True. Let us promise to meet again before another year has passed. I have already enjoyed today more than I had expected when I had walked in.
Anna: Deal. And tell me more about the projects your team has completed since spring. I have time before my next client arrives.
