The factory was expanded in 2019 when a new wing was built by contractors from the next county. Old equipment was replaced by energy-efficient models that were subsidised by a green industry grant. Waste heat was captured by a recovery system and it was used to warm offices that were occupied by designers and accountants.
Products that failed final inspection were dismantled by a recycling team, and reusable parts were cleaned by ultrasonic baths. Hazardous substances were handled by certified staff and they were disposed of by licensed firms that were audited every year. Packaging materials were chosen so that boxes could be recycled after they were opened by customers in clinics and labs.
