Day forty - two on the Space Station . My life in space is very special . People often ask how we live without gravity . Today , I want to describe my daily routine up here among the stars . My workday starts when our morning alarm plays a cheerful song . I wake up at six o'clock . I do not fall out of bed because my sleeping bag is tied to the wall . I float out of my bag and wash my face with a special wet towel . At six - thirty , the team eats breakfast together in the kitchen module . We do not eat fresh eggs or bread because crumbs are dangerous for our machines . Instead , we add hot water to dehydrated food bags and drink juice through plastic straws . From eight to twelve , we work on our scientific experiments . Today , I study how plants grow in space . I take photos of the small green leaves and record data on my tablet . My colleague , Alex , repairs a water filter in another room . At noon , we must exercise for two hours . In space , our muscles get weak quickly , so we use a special treadmill and a stationary bicycle . We sweat a lot , but we cannot take a shower . We use wet wipes to clean our skin . In the afternoon , we speak with the control center on Earth . They help us with our tasks . We also check the station's solar panels and oxygen systems to make sure everything works perfectly . At seven o'clock in the evening , we cook dinner and relax . We watch movies on a laptop or look out the big window at Earth . Our planet looks beautiful and blue . Finally , I write my daily report , brush my teeth , and float into my sleeping bag at ten o'clock .
