I am Priya . Last April our town library held a spring fair in the park beside the river . Mrs Cole , the head librarian , read stories to children under a white tent near the old oak tree . The fair began at ten in the morning . Volunteers set up tables with books , puzzles , and small plants from local gardens . Mrs Cole wore a bright yellow scarf and carried a stack of picture books in a cloth bag on her shoulder . Children came from three nearby schools . Some sat on blankets while others stood near the front row . Mrs Cole began with a story about a fox who lost his way in the forest and found friends near a stream . The children laughed when the fox caught a hat that blew off a bench . After the first story , a boy named Eli asked Mrs Cole about the books on the table . She told him they came from a donation box at the library entrance last month . Eli chose a thin book about trains and kept it open on his lap while the next story began . Mrs Cole read for forty minutes without a long break . She drank water from a bottle a parent brought and thanked the woman with a warm smile . Then she chose a quieter tale about a girl who wrote letters to her grandmother in another city . During the third story , wind blew pages in the open book , but Mrs Cole held them flat with calm hands . A toddler slept on his dad's shoulder while older kids drew animals on paper sheets a volunteer spread on the grass . When the reading ended , families walked to the craft table . I helped younger children cut paper flowers while Mrs Cole signed bookmarks for students who asked . She wrote short notes and gave each child a sticker from a tin in her bag . At noon the fair moved toward lunch . A food truck sold soup and bread near the path . Mrs Cole ate with two teachers who organized the event . They spoke about next year's plan and how many books they sold at low prices . Before I left , I bought two novels at the used - book stall . Mrs Cole told me she chose those titles for the table herself last week . I felt grateful for the calm morning and the stories that brought our community together under the oak tree . That spring fair showed me how reading can feel alive outdoors . Mrs Cole read with patience , children listened with open hearts , and volunteers worked until the last box was empty . I kept my bookmark on my desk and thought about the fox who found his way home .
