I am Diego . This summer I worked at a hotel reception desk near the beach and studied English online three evenings per week . Guests arrived from many countries , and I practiced polite questions while I checked keys and answered phone calls . July felt long because the hotel stayed full during a local festival . I learned names of nearby restaurants and tram routes by heart . My supervisor praised calm tone during busy check - ins and asked me to train a new colleague in August . When shifts ended I walked home along the seafront and listened to podcasts about hospitality careers . Sometimes I stopped for fruit at a market stall and spoke with vendors in slow clear sentences . Those small talks improved confidence more than I expected . In August my cousin visited from Madrid for ten days . We cooked together , swam in calm water near the pier , and photographed sunsets from the hotel roof when the manager allowed access after hours . She returned home with gifts for her parents and many stories for friends . Now September begins and tourists leave gradually . The hotel is going to reduce hours until spring , so I am going to start a part - time course in business skills at the community college . The adviser is going to help me choose modules that match reception experience . My manager is going to write a reference letter I am going to use for applications next year . I am going to update my CV this weekend and ask a teacher to review grammar in the English version . A classmate is going to share templates from a workshop she attended in June . At home I am going to rearrange my desk and store summer uniforms in a box under the bed . My mother is going to visit in October , and we are going to cook her favourite soup on the first evening she arrives . She is going to bring photos from family gatherings I missed while working late shifts . I also plan quiet habits for autumn evenings . I read ten pages before sleep , I note new words in a notebook , and I call my cousin once a week . These routines are going to keep language practice steady when work hours are going to shrink . Two coworkers from the hotel are going to join the same business course , so we are going to travel to campus together on Tuesday mornings . One of them is going to share car rides when his shift schedule is going to match mine . We are going to review lecture notes in the café near the library before classes are going to start at nine . The hotel manager is going to organize a short farewell lunch for seasonal staff in the last week of September . I am going to thank the team for patient training and I am going to bring a card signed by reception colleagues . Several guests wrote kind comments in the online book , and the manager is going to print a few lines for the break - room wall .
