I am Ines . June arrives next week , and our school hall already smells of paint and fresh posters for the end - of - year show . Teachers move chairs , students rehearse lines , and everyone counts days until summer freedom returns . Last month felt dense with tests and oral exams in language and maths . I studied in the library with two classmates and we shared notes when topics seemed unclear . Our tutor praised steady effort and said final marks will appear online before the last Friday assembly . Now rehearsals for the drama club fill my afternoons on Tuesdays and Thursdays . The director said the stage lights will brighten after technicians will finish wiring on Wednesday . I read a short part about a traveller who returns home after a long journey , and I practice slow speech so the audience will hear each word in the back row . My friend Rafa plays music between acts . He said his band will perform two songs if sound checks will finish on time Thursday morning . The drummer said cables will arrive from repair shop tomorrow , and Rafa said he will test volume levels before younger children will enter the hall for preview seats . Outside school I work four hours on Saturdays at a bakery near the tram line . The owner said summer hours will extend in July when tourists will return to the old quarter . I said I will keep the job if exam results will allow enrollment in the college programme I chose in spring . At home my parents discuss a short trip to the coast when classes will end . Mom said she will book a guesthouse if Dad will confirm dates with his manager next Monday . I said I will join for three days and I will return early for the drama performance if the schedule will stay fixed on the twentieth . Rafa and I walk home together after rehearsal and talk about plans beyond school walls . He said he will apply for a music workshop in the city if teachers will write references before deadlines . I said I will volunteer at the community library if coordinators will accept student helpers during summer reading events . In the classroom our homeroom teacher posted a list of locker clean - out times . She said keys will return at the office window and lost items will wait on a table near the gym for one week . Students will sign a sheet when they will collect reports and certificates at the final assembly . I feel mixed emotions as June approaches . Part of me will miss daily routines and familiar faces in the corridor . Another part will welcome sleep , bike rides , and books without alarm clocks at six fifteen . Looking ahead , I see performances , results , family travel , and new responsibilities waiting in warm air . I will finish school tasks with care , I will support friends on stage , and I will enter summer knowing effort this month will shape the holidays that will follow .
