We must not enter the security area without a boarding pass . At the check - in desk the agent said we must weigh our bags before we print labels . Each passenger must show ID when the staff ask . We have to remove old tags from suitcases so scanners read them clearly . Mom read a poster about liquids in hand luggage . It said we must put bottles in a clear plastic bag . Each container must not hold more than one hundred millilitres . Travelers have to take the bag out of their case at security . At security we must empty pockets into a tray . We must not wear large metal belts or heavy boots if we want a fast check . We have to walk through the scanner one person at a time . The officer said we should arrive two hours before a short flight . Dad asked about laptops and tablets . The guard said we must place electronics in a separate tray . We must not pack power banks in checked luggage on most airlines . Passengers have to follow airline rules printed on their tickets . Near the gate a voice on the speaker gave more instructions . It said we must stay in the waiting area until boarding starts . We must not block the corridor with large bags . Families with small children should board when the airline calls their group . Before boarding the staff checked our passports again . They said we must match the name on the ticket exactly . We have to show the boarding pass on our phone or on paper . We must not smoke anywhere on the aircraft . Passengers have to listen when the captain gives instructions . During the flight a flight attendant spoke about meals . She said we should drink water on long trips . We must not stand in the aisle when the seat belt sign is on . Travelers have to stow bags under the seat in front of them . At arrival in Madrid we followed signs to passport control . The officer said we must declare food or plants if we carry them . We must not bring certain items through customs . Visitors have to keep entry forms until they leave the country . Airport rules felt strict , but they kept everyone safe and organized . We must read signs carefully in every terminal .
