Sam wanted the export finished before lunch . It was a dull function , the kind that used to mean an hour in the documentation and an error message that hid the real mistake . Sam gave the rough idea to an AI assistant and had a function back before the kettle boiled . It looked fluent . It also opened a file Sam had not asked it to open . " That is the change , " said Noor , at the next desk . " An assistant can explain a function you have never seen , draft a test , suggest a query , or hand you a first version . It cannot want the right thing . Code that reads well can still be wrong . " Sam deleted the extra lines and wrote a test they could check by hand . The test failed , then passed . The pass was the only line Sam trusted . The question had moved . It was no longer only how to write the function . It was what the function should do , and how Sam would know . Noor glanced at the other tab , still full of tools . " Do not let that tab pick your afternoon . Rust is a real offer : memory safety without a garbage collector , and a hard lesson in who owns each piece of memory . It has not pushed older languages out . Python is still the practical place for a lot of data work and machine learning , because you can try an idea quickly and the libraries are already there . WebAssembly can run something like Rust or C + + in the browser when a page needs heavier computation . Plenty of pages are simpler in ordinary JavaScript . Running logic closer to the user , at the edge , can cut delay , and it can also make the bug harder to find . Docker is a familiar way to pack an app . Kubernetes matters for many large systems and is a lot of machinery for a small one . You can reach a quantum computer or a simulator from a cloud account now . Useful quantum programs are not common because of that . The walk from an article to a tiny experiment is just shorter . " Sam closed the tab . " So the new part is the pile . " " And the hour after the code appears , " said Noor . " You might write for a while , then read what the assistant wrote , then decide whether the shape of the thing makes sense at all . Programming did not leave . The work around the code got harder to ignore . " Sam shipped the export . The assistant had been fast . The file existed because Sam could still say what done meant .
