We took the coach early on a Tuesday morning. Our class teacher Mr Reed sat near the front and counted students at every stop. Lina sat beside me and shared her headphones while we drove through green hills and small towns.
When we arrived, we walked to the beach and felt cold wind on our faces. Some students ran toward the water while others stayed on the sand and built low walls with stones. Mr Reed told us to stay in groups and meet again at the pier at two o'clock.
At lunch we ate sandwiches in a hall near the harbour. A guide spoke about boats and fishing jobs in the area. Lina bought a postcard and sent it to her cousin that afternoon. I wrote a short note on mine and kept it in my bag until we returned home.
In the evening we visited a small museum with old maps and tools from local farms. I read labels slowly and took photos of a wooden ship model behind glass. Lina found a book about sea birds and read two pages before our group moved to the next room.
We slept in a hostel that night. The rooms were simple, but the beds felt clean and warm. I woke early and heard rain on the window. Mr Reed knocked on doors at seven and asked everyone to pack before breakfast.
On the second day we followed a coastal path with a local ranger. He told stories about storms and ships that came to the bay years ago. We saw seals on rocks far from the path and stopped to watch them through binoculars a teacher brought.
Before we left, our class stood on the pier and thanked the staff at the hostel. Mr Reed said we behaved well and learned a lot from the visit. Lina and I hugged near the coach and promised to print our favourite photos when we got back to school.
Looking at those pictures last month, we remembered the cold beach, the museum, and the hostel breakfast with hot tea. The trip felt short, but it left us with stories we still tell our classmates today.
