When Pia arrived we decided we will skip the garden because light rain will start before noon. Instead we walked to the indoor market hall where musicians sometimes play near the cheese stalls. Pia said she will buy honey for her mother if the beekeeper will offer small jars at the corner stand.
Near the flower aisle a poster advertised a free photography talk at two in the community centre upstairs. Pia said she will join because her camera battery will charge fully by lunch if she will plug it in at my flat. I said I will come along even though I know little about lenses and shutter speed.
We ate soup at a shared table and talked about her new job at a travel agency downtown. She said summer bookings will grow after the holiday brochure will launch next week. Clients will ask about coastal routes, and she will recommend guesthouses she visited during training in May.
After the talk we looked outside and saw bright sun on wet pavement. Pia said the garden will dry quickly if wind will continue from the west. I checked my phone and said the last entry slot will close at four, so we will hurry if we will still want to see the orchid house.
We took the tram and arrived with forty minutes to spare. The ticket clerk said the orchid room will close early for maintenance, but the rose path will stay open until five. Pia said she will photograph roses with water drops while I will read labels about plant origins from distant islands.
On the way home Pia remembered she is going to host dinner for two colleagues on Sunday night. She said she is going to cook pasta and salad if the supermarket will deliver ingredients before six. I said I will lend serving bowls and I will leave early so she will have time to prepare.
At my door we laughed about how the day shifted from coffee to market talk to garden photos. Pia said her colleagues will enjoy stories about changing plans and good light after rain. I said next Saturday will probably look different again, and that will keep weekends interesting.
Before sleep I wrote a short note in my journal about flexible days. Rain will push people indoors, sun will invite walks, and friends will adjust without stress when timetables will wobble. I will remember this Saturday as proof that calm choices matter more than perfect schedules.
