I hope you are well and that your new job in Bristol is going smoothly. I wanted to write because last week was busy here, and I think you will enjoy the small stories.
On Monday I started a new shift at the bookshop near the station, and the manager showed me how to scan orders and pack parcels. The work is tiring but interesting because I meet readers with very different tastes. One customer bought three poetry books and two cookbooks, and she talked about her book club for twenty minutes.
Tuesday felt quieter at home, and I cleaned the flat while listening to a podcast about travel. I found old photos from our trip to Wales, and I smiled because we laughed a lot on that rainy hike. I sent two pictures to Mom, and she replied with a heart emoji and a short joke about our wet shoes.
On Wednesday my friend Iris visited, and we cooked soup together in my small kitchen. She brought fresh bread, and I added carrots and lentils because the weather turned cold again. We ate by the window and watched people with umbrellas cross the street.
Thursday was difficult because my laptop stopped working before an online class. I called the repair shop, and they asked me to bring it on Friday morning. I felt stressed but relieved because the technician sounded calm and confident on the phone.
Friday I walked to the shop early, and the repair took two hours but cost less than I feared. In the afternoon I finished my assignment, and I treated myself to tea and cake at the cafe on Bridge Street. The cake was sweet but light, and I read a chapter of the novel you recommended last month.
On the weekend I visited Dad, and we fixed a loose shelf in the garage together. He taught me how to measure carefully, and we laughed because we always misplace the same screwdriver. Sunday evening I packed lunch boxes for the week, and I felt ready for Monday again.
