When Mia called me, I was in the kitchen with my mom. Mom heard me say her name and smiled. She knows Mia well because Mia visited us many times last year.
Mia asked me to check the blue bag near the door. I looked and found the book she needed. I told her I would put it in my backpack tonight so I would not forget it.
After the call, my brother Sam asked me who called me. I told him it was Mia. Sam knows her from football practice on Wednesdays. He said he saw her at the park last weekend.
Later my dad sent me a message about dinner. He asked me to set the table before he came home. I replied and told him I would do it after I finished my homework.
At seven my cousin Emma called me from the city. She wanted to tell me about her new job at a café. I listened carefully and asked her to describe the uniform they gave her.
Emma said the manager showed her the kitchen on her first day. A senior waiter helped her learn the menu quickly. The owner thanked her for arriving early and introduced her to the team.
Before Emma hung up, she asked me to visit her next month. I told her I would ask my parents and call her back. She said she would send me photos of the café by email.
On Monday morning I met Mia at the school gate. I gave her the book and she thanked me with a big smile. She told me her teacher would check the homework in the first period.
During break Mia introduced me to her cousin from Spain. He spoke English well and asked me about our town. I showed him the library and told him the librarian would help him find travel guides.
Mia also told me her cousin wanted to join our football club. She asked me to speak to the coach after training. I said I would mention him because the team needed one more player.
At lunch Sam sat with us and told Mia he saw her brother at the shop. Mia said she would call him later and remind him to buy milk. Sam offered to help her and said he could drive her brother home if needed.
After school the coach called me about Saturday's match. He asked me to tell the team we would meet at eight thirty, not nine. I promised I would message everyone in our group chat tonight.
Before I went home, Mia texted me again. She thanked me for bringing the book and said her teacher praised her homework. I felt happy because helping a friend is always worth the small effort.
That evening my mom asked me if Emma called me again.
