Practica object pronouns en peticiones cotidianas: help us, carry them, ask me.
I took two bags and walked beside my mom. She told me to hold the bread carefully because the loaf was soft. A shopkeeper saw us and opened the door for us with a friendly nod.
Near the car we met our neighbours, Mr and Mrs Park. They waved and asked us if we needed help. Dad thanked them and said the bags were fine, but Mrs Park still carried one box to our boot.
Mom asked me to check if we forgot anything on the bench. I ran back and found a small bag with apples. I brought it to her and she said, "Good job — you saved us a trip."
At home Dad asked me to unpack the bags on the kitchen table. My brother Jake watched TV and did not move. Mom looked at him and said, "Jake, can you help us? These tomatoes need water."
Jake turned off the TV and took the tomatoes to the sink. He washed them and placed them in a bowl for us. Mom thanked him and told him she would make his favourite pasta for lunch.
While we worked, the doorbell rang. It was our friend Amy with her little sister Lily. Amy asked us if we could help her carry a plant upstairs to her flat. Dad smiled and said he would help them after he finished with the bags.
Amy said her father was at work and her mother had a sore back. She did not want to lift the heavy pot alone. Jake and I put on shoes and followed Amy to her building across the street.
In the hallway Amy's neighbour Mr Cole saw us struggling. He held the door and guided us to the lift. He pressed the button for us and wished us a good afternoon with a quiet laugh.
Upstairs Amy opened her door and showed us where to put the plant. Lily gave me a drawing she made at school. I told her I liked the bright sun in the corner and promised I would put it on my fridge.
Amy made juice for us and asked Jake if he wanted more. He said yes, so she poured another glass for him. Mom later texted me and asked me to come home because lunch was ready.
Before we left, Amy asked us to visit her garden next week. She said she would show us the tomatoes she planted in May. Jake told her he would bring his camera because he liked close photos of flowers.
On the way back Dad met us at the corner. He carried Jake's shoes because Jake walked barefoot on the grass in the courtyard. Mom laughed when she saw us and said the pasta was waiting for us on the table.
