Saturday began with rain, so I stayed indoors and sorted boxes I had ignored since my last move. Among old school reports I found a photo of my cousins at a lake we visited every August when I was a child.

I called my aunt Rosa and asked whether she remembered those trips. She laughed and said she had kept a picnic blanket we had used for years. We talked for twenty minutes, and she invited me to visit next weekend.

In the afternoon I met friends at a café near the station. Ben told us about a concert he attended last night, while I explained that I have recently started piano lessons again. Mia mentioned a novel she has almost finished, and we ordered cake to share.

Later I walked home through streets I knew well. The bookshop on Corner Lane has changed owners, yet the window display still looks welcoming. I bought a travel guide because I have thought about visiting Scotland in spring.

Sunday felt brighter. I took a train to Rosa's town and arrived at midday. She prepared soup and bread, and we looked through albums she had stored in a cupboard. Many pictures showed summers I had forgotten in detail.

We drove to the lake in the afternoon. The path was muddy, but the water looked calm. Rosa said the council has cleaned the shore since last year, and families have returned for picnics on sunny days.

Standing there, I remembered how we had raced to the jetty as children. I have not swum in that lake for a decade, yet the place has remained familiar. Rosa photographed me beside a tree we had climbed long ago.

On the train home I wrote messages to Ben and Mia about the visit. I also emailed my piano teacher to confirm Tuesday's lesson. The weekend mixed memories from the past with plans I have made for the coming month.

Life rarely stays still. Some moments belong to yesterday, and others belong to experiences I have collected recently. Both shapes have felt important as I prepared for a new week at work.
