Dear neighbours,
I am writing to summarise the improvements that were made in our building during last year. Many of you asked for updates at the residents meeting in December, and I hope this letter answers your questions.
The roof was repaired in spring after leaks were reported on the fourth floor. Tiles were replaced, and insulation was added so heat is kept inside during winter. Scaffolding was erected for three weeks, and access was controlled for safety.
The entrance hall was painted in June. Walls were washed first, and a warm grey colour was chosen by the committee. New lighting was installed, and postboxes were relabelled so apartment numbers are easier to read.
Elevator maintenance was completed in August. Old cables were inspected, and worn parts were changed before a certificate was issued. Temporary notices were posted while the lift was out of service.
The courtyard was redesigned in autumn. Broken paving was removed, and benches were placed under the existing trees. Bicycle racks were bolted near the side gate, and a small herb garden was planted by volunteers.
Security cameras were updated in October. Blind spots were covered, and recordings are now stored for thirty days. Privacy rules were explained at a short meeting so residents know how footage is used.
Fire equipment was checked throughout the year. Alarms were tested monthly, and extinguishers were replaced where expiry dates had passed. Emergency exits were marked with reflective signs.
Some delays were unavoidable. Delivery of new windows was postponed when supply chains were disrupted, but installation was finished before cold weather arrived. Apologies were accepted graciously by most owners.
Costs were shared according to apartment size. Invoices were sent by email, and payments were recorded in a transparent spreadsheet. Questions were answered by the treasurer within two working days.
Further proposals will be discussed in March. Suggestions about solar panels are being considered, and a survey will be circulated soon. Your opinions are valued because community decisions are made together.
Thank you for your patience while these changes were carried out. The building feels safer and more comfortable, and I believe the effort was worthwhile.
Kind regards,
Martin
