Before I step inside, I take my muddy boots off on the mat and take them off carefully because the floor is new. I hang my wet jacket up on the hook by the door and hang it up so the fabric can dry.
In the kitchen I plug the kettle in near the socket and plug it in before I fill it with water. I switch the oven light on to inspect the shelves, then switch it on because the bulb looks dim. I wipe the counter off with a cloth from the moving box and wipe it off until the dust disappears.
The previous tenant left a note on the fridge. I pick the note up and pick it up to read the instructions about the heating. The note says I should turn the radiator on slowly and turn it on for ten minutes before adjusting the dial.
In the living room I set the lamp up on the desk and set it up near the window for better light. I take the old batteries out of the remote and take them out because they leak. I throw the batteries away in the small bin and throw them away before they stain the carpet.
My phone rings while I unpack. I pick the call up quickly and pick it up, then I hang the phone up after a short chat with my sister and hang it up when she says goodnight. She tells me to lock the door and switch the porch light off, so I switch it off from inside.
The bedroom feels cold. I put an extra blanket on the bed and put it on before I change clothes. I take my work shirt off and take it off, then I hang the shirt up in the wardrobe and hang it up on a wooden hanger.
In the bathroom I wipe the mirror off with a towel and wipe it off because steam from the shower left marks. I plug the shaver in and plug it in, then I switch the fan on and switch it on to clear the air.
Back in the kitchen I clean the mugs up from the sink and clean them up before making tea. I fill the kettle up and fill it up, then I switch the kettle off when the water boils and switch it off with a click.
I write my new address down in my notebook and write it down twice so I will not forget it. I look the street name up on my phone and look it up to confirm the spelling for tomorrow's delivery.
Before sleep I turn the bedside lamp on and turn it on for five minutes while I read. Then I switch the lamp off, switch it off, and set my alarm for morning.
