Subject: Returning the projector and cables

Dear Ms Cole,

Thank you for lending the portable projector last week. Our community group used it for a film night, and I want to give everything back in good condition before Friday.

I picked the projector up from your office on Tuesday and picked it up with the padded case you provided. After the event I wiped the lens off carefully and wiped it off with a soft cloth. I also cleaned the case up and cleaned it up so no dust remains inside.

Could you confirm where I should hand the equipment in? I can bring it to reception on Thursday morning, or I can drop the case off near the storage room if that suits you better. I will drop it off before ten if reception is open.

The HDMI cable still works, but I noticed a small crack near the plug. I wrote the detail down on a sticky note and wrote it down inside the lid so you can inspect it. I did not throw the cable away because it may still connect for short sessions.

Please let me know if I should fill a return form in online or fill it in on paper. I looked the staff portal up yesterday and looked it up, yet the link timed out. I can try again tonight when the server might respond faster.

I switched the projector on once more at home to test the image and switched it on for only two minutes. Then I switched it off and unplugged it. I plugged the power lead in only for that test and plugged it in briefly.

Thank you again for your help. I will hang up after I send this message, then I will pack the cables up and put them into the case.

Kind regards,
Jonah

Reply from Ms Cole:

Dear Jonah,

Thank you for the careful message. Please hand the projector in at reception on Thursday before noon. You may fill the short return form in at the desk and fill it in with today's date.

If the cable worries you, leave it in the case and we will look it up in our inventory list. No need to replace it yourself.

Regards,
Ms Cole

Jonah feels relieved. He sets an alarm on his phone and sets it up for Thursday at nine so he will not forget. Separable verbs carry the whole exchange: pick it up, wipe it off, hand it in, fill it in.
