Thanks for coming to the viewing that the agency arranged on short notice. I know you skipped a lunch break that you rarely take, so I appreciate the time that you gave me.

The flat that sits on the third floor has windows that face a park where dog walkers gather each morning. Light that enters the living room feels stronger than in the unit that we rejected last month. Ceilings that slope slightly in the bedroom might bother someone who wants perfect symmetry, but I like the character that older buildings often keep.

The landlord who owns the property lives in a house that stands two streets away. He showed us certificates that prove the boiler that heats water was serviced in spring. Pipes that run along the kitchen wall look newer than fixtures that remain from renovations that happened ten years ago.

There is a cupboard that hides a washing machine that previous tenants who worked late nights apparently used often. The drum that spins quietly would save trips that I currently make to a launderette that closes before I finish work. Shelves that flank the machine could hold detergents that I buy in bulk when shops that offer discounts run promotions.

Transport links that matter to both of us are better than we hoped. A bus stop that serves routes that reach the hospital where you train stands five minutes away. My office that moved to the riverside district connects via a tram line that passengers who commute at peak hours praise for reliability.

Shops that line the nearby avenue include a bakery that opens before six and a pharmacy that stays open until ten. Restaurants that deliver meals that taste homemade appear on apps that list places which residents who leave reviews recommend warmly.

The neighbour who greeted us in the corridor mentioned tenants who keep noise that might disturb others to a minimum. Rules that the building enforces about quiet hours after eleven suit my schedule that rarely includes late parties.
