Community Hall, 7 March, 19:00
Present: 34 residents; Chair: Ms Okonkwo; Secretary: Mr Li

Apologies were received from four committee members who had been travelling. Minutes from February were approved after one correction was made to the attendance list.

Traffic calming was discussed first. A resident asked whether speed bumps would be installed before the school term resumed. The council liaison replied that designs were being reviewed and that consultations would be reopened if dimensions were changed.

If the pilot on Maple Street had been evaluated earlier, data would already support expansion. Sensors were installed, speeds were recorded, and results were expected by April. Had funding been secured last year, construction would have started this month.

Noise from late-night deliveries was raised. Shop owners were asked to schedule trucks after six in the morning. One owner wondered whether exemptions would be granted for bakeries. Officers said exceptions could be considered if evidence was submitted.

The treasurer reported that donations had been collected for the playground repaint. Quotes were obtained, volunteers were recruited, and materials would be purchased once colours were chosen by pupils.

Safety concerns about broken lighting were noted. Three lamps were repaired last week, yet two remained dark because parts had not arrived. Residents were told to report outages through the app and not to assume issues were logged automatically.

If repairs were prioritised by risk, paths near the river would be illuminated sooner. Walkers would feel safer during winter evenings, and incidents that had been reported anonymously might decrease.

A proposal to plant native trees was approved. Saplings would be ordered, watering rota would be organised, and educational signs would be designed by secondary students.

Ms Okonkwo requested that dog owners keep leads near the toddler area. Notices would be posted, waste bins would be emptied more frequently, and enforcement would be discussed if complaints continued.

Mixed views emerged about street markets. Some residents wanted monthly events; others worried that parking would be disrupted. A survey will be sent, results will be summarised, and a decision will be made at the April meeting.

Before closing, attendees were reminded to join the litter pick on Saturday. Gloves will be provided, refreshments will be served, and photos will be shared on the community page if permissions are granted.

Meeting ended at 20:35. Next meeting: 4 April.
