I am Daniel. Last Thursday I attended a final interview for a project coordinator role, and afterward my colleague Priya asked me to describe everything the panel had said. Retelling the conversation forced me to notice how many questions had arrived in reported form once I left the room.

The lead interviewer, Ms Hart, had asked whether I had prepared the portfolio she had requested. I told Priya that Ms Hart had asked if I had included budget forecasts from my previous employer. I explained that I had answered yes, and that I had also mentioned the timeline charts.

Ms Hart had asked where I had managed cross-team projects before. I told Priya that I had described work in Leeds and a remote contract in Dublin. Ms Hart had asked why I had left the Dublin contract early, and I had explained that the funding cycle had ended.

The technical director had asked if I was comfortable presenting to senior stakeholders. I told Priya that he had asked whether I had ever handled difficult questions during live demos. I said that I had, and that I had given two recent examples from a product launch.

HR manager Mr Okonkwo had asked when I could start if an offer arrived. I told Priya that he had asked whether I had a notice period with my current company. I had replied that I needed four weeks, though I had added that I could negotiate if necessary.

Ms Hart had asked how I had resolved a conflict between designers and engineers on my last project. I told Priya that she had wanted concrete steps, not general claims. I had explained that I had arranged a joint workshop and that I had documented decisions afterward.

Before the presentation began, an assistant had asked me to wait in the reception area. She had told me not to connect my laptop until the technician had checked the cable. She had asked if I had brought a backup copy on a USB stick, and I had confirmed that I had.

During the break, Mr Okonkwo had asked me to refill the water jug on the side table. He had told me not to worry about the delay, because the previous candidate had run over time. He had asked whether I needed a few minutes to collect my notes, and I had said that I did.

After my talk, Ms Hart had asked what tools I had used to track milestones. I told Priya that she had asked if those tools could integrate with the company's existing platform. I had said that they could, and that I had prepared a short comparison slide.

The technical director had asked why our prototype had failed during testing in March. I told Priya that he had asked whether the failure had been caused by hardware or software. I had explained that the root cause had been a misconfigured server, and that we had fixed it within forty-eight hours.
