We practiced the opening piece twice and corrected a rhythm mistake in the second movement. I listened carefully and watched the conductor count the first bars in silence.
Tuesday felt calmer at home. I copied notes from a friend who missed rehearsal and marked the pages I needed to study again. In the evening I practiced alone for half an hour while my brother finished homework at the kitchen table. The difficult passage near the end still sounded uneven, but I smiled when the final note finally matched the recording on my phone.
On Wednesday rain tapped the windows, yet the school hall stayed warm. We rehearsed with the choir for the first time, and voices blended with our instruments during the last chorus. Mrs Bell recorded a short clip so we could review the timing later. After school I talked with Marco about our black concert clothes and the shoes we planned to wear.
Thursday seemed longer than the other days. We rehearsed in full dress because parents wanted photos before the performance. I changed in the small room behind the stage and fixed my hair in the mirror near the lockers. Marco helped me carry my case upstairs while other students prepared snacks for the short break between run-throughs.
Friday finally arrived. Backstage we breathed slowly and checked our music folders one last time. The curtain opened, the audience clapped, and we walked onto the stage in a straight line. We played every piece we practiced during the week. My hands trembled at first, but I relaxed when the melody started and the hall grew quiet.
After the concert we thanked Mrs Bell and hugged friends in the corridor. Parents photographed the group near the stage door, and I returned home tired but happy. I opened this diary, described the evening in three short lines, and closed the book before midnight.
Saturday and Sunday I rested and listened to recordings from the concert. I noticed small errors that only musicians heard, and I planned extra practice for the summer exam piece. Last week ended with music, teamwork, and memories I wanted to keep for a long time.
