Interviewer: Welcome to the studio. Today three professionals have joined us to discuss career changes they have made before age thirty.

Guest one: I have worked in retail, then teaching, and now user research. Each shift has taught skills I have transferred later. Teaching has improved my patience, and research has used that patience daily.

Guest two: I have studied law, yet I have never practiced in a courtroom. Instead I have moved into compliance for a tech company. Regulations have changed quickly, and my team has adapted policies clients have trusted.

Guest three: I have tried freelance photography while working in hospitality. Early mornings in cafés have paid bills, and weekends have filled with weddings I have photographed. Balance has been difficult, but creativity has kept me motivated.

Interviewer: Have any of you regretted a switch?

Guest one: I have missed classroom energy sometimes, yet I have not regretted leaving when burnout has appeared. Therapy has helped me recognise limits I have ignored.

Guest two: Doubt has visited me during long projects. Still, mentors have reminded me that careers have rarely followed straight lines. Networks I have built at university have opened unexpected doors.

Guest three: Financial uncertainty has stressed me, yet I have learned budgeting skills I have valued. I have also developed a portfolio I have shown with confidence.

Interviewer: What advice have you wished you have heard earlier?

Guest one: Experimentation has been normal, not failure. Short courses I have taken online have revealed interests I have not studied formally.

Guest two: Document achievements as you have earned them. I have forgotten projects until a recruiter has asked for examples I have nearly overlooked.

Guest three: Ask for feedback while you have worked, not only when you have left a role. Colleagues have noticed strengths I have underestimated.

Interviewer: Thank you. Listeners have sent questions we have answered on the programme website. Careers have evolved, and the paths these guests have explored so far have shown that change has remained possible with reflection and support.
