At noon we walk to the market in the town centre on Market Street. Dad buys cheese and bread, and Mom chooses fruit because prices are lower on Saturday mornings. Grandpa carries bags for her, and he rests on a bench at one o'clock when his knees feel tired.
In the afternoon I read on the porch, and Eva draws pictures of the cat that sleeps in the sun. Grandma brings us tea at four, and she asks if we want biscuits because the tin is full after her baking on Thursday.
Do your grandparents live far from you? Mine do not live in our city, but I like the journey because the countryside feels peaceful after noisy streets at home. Eva and I enjoy slow days there, and we help with small tasks because family support matters.
On Sunday we pack our bags at six in the evening, and Grandma gives me a scarf she knitted in winter. I hug her again, and I promise to call her on Wednesday because she likes hearing news from school.
Grandpa walks us to the car, and he waves until we turn the corner on Hill Road. Mom drives carefully in the dark, and Dad plays soft music because the day ended with warm goodbyes.
I do not visit every month, but holidays with my grandparents stay special in my memory. I like their house, their stories, and the time they give me without rush. Do you call your grandparents often?
