I am Nina. I work in a customer support centre in Dublin. Every day, many languages are spoken in our open-plan office, and messages are answered in more than six languages.

English is used most often because it is understood by nearly every team member. Calls from Europe are handled in English first, and complex cases are transferred to specialists when needed. Scripts are written in clear English so new staff are trained quickly.

Spanish is spoken by four colleagues on the second row. Emails from Latin America are routed to them, and complaints are resolved with polite, formal phrases. Training materials are translated into Spanish each quarter.

French is heard near the window desks. Clients from West Africa and France are assisted there, and invoices are checked before refunds are approved. Weekly meetings are held in French when a regional manager visits.

German is used less frequently, but it is still important. Technical manuals are stored in German, and warranty forms are processed by one senior agent. When a product is recalled, instructions are sent in German to affected customers.

Polish and Ukrainian are spoken by newer team members who joined last year. Chat messages from those regions are answered quickly, and cultural details are considered when tone is chosen. Holiday greetings are written in the client's language when possible.

Portuguese is supported on evening shifts. Brazil and Portugal are covered after five o'clock, and tickets are closed before midnight. Voice messages are transcribed when accents are difficult to understand on the phone.

Even Italian is used occasionally. A fashion client requires Italian replies, and style guides are followed strictly. Product names are copied exactly as they are printed on labels.

Not every language is spoken by everyone, but help is always found. A shared board is updated when someone is free, and urgent cases are flagged in red. Knowledge articles are linked so answers stay consistent.

Accent coaching is offered twice a month. Pronunciation is practiced in small groups, and recordings are reviewed privately. Feedback is given gently so confidence is built rather than damaged.

Software is configured so languages are detected automatically. When detection fails, customers are asked politely to confirm their preference. Personal data is protected, and transcripts are stored securely.

Reports are produced every Monday. The number of resolved tickets is counted, and average response time is measured. Languages that are under-supported are noted, and hiring plans are adjusted.

Visitors are often surprised by how many languages are heard at once. Headphones are worn so conversations are not mixed, and quiet zones are respected during focused work. Respect is shown by listening carefully, even when words are unfamiliar.

Our office succeeds because communication is treated as a skill, not a background detail. Problems are solved when clients feel understood, and that feeling is created when their language is spoken with patience and clarity.
