Tuesday, 14 March
I woke up late because my alarm did not go off. I jumped out of bed, threw on clothes, and rushed out without breakfast. On the bus I remembered I had forgotten to hand in a form at the bank, so I made a note to drop by after work.
At the office my manager asked me to fill in a report before noon. I logged in, pulled up last week's figures, and started typing. A colleague came over to point out a column that looked wrong, which saved me from sending mistakes upstream.
During lunch I ate at my desk and tried to catch up on messages. Nina rang up about dinner plans, but I said I might have to work late. She told me not to stress and offered to pick up dessert if I showed up after eight.
The afternoon meeting ran long. People spoke over each other until the chair asked everyone to calm down and take turns. We finally agreed to put off the budget vote until Friday. I wrote down action items and promised to follow up with two departments.
After work I stopped at the bank, handed in the form, and queued longer than expected. By the time I got home I wanted to doze off on the sofa. Instead I warmed up leftovers, checked in with Nina, and agreed to meet her at the restaurant at nine.
I arrived slightly late, but Nina had already ordered starters. We talked about her new flatmate, who never cleans up after cooking. Nina joked she might move out if habits did not improve. We laughed, paid the bill, and walked home slowly.
Before bed I packed up my bag for Wednesday and set out my gym clothes. Busy days pass quickly when tasks pile up, yet phrasal verbs help me describe every small action from rushing out the door to winding down at night.
