Hi Sophie,
Thanks for your message. This week felt slower than last, but a few good things happened that I want to share before I forget the details.
On Monday our office moved desks again. I had to unplug everything and plug it all back in after IT checked the ports. My new neighbour is someone who joined in spring, and she helped me set the second screen up and set it up at the right height. If you ever visit, I can show you the corner window where the afternoon light lands on the keyboard.
Tuesday was rain all day. I forgot my umbrella, so I picked a cheap one up from a shop near the train station and picked it up without comparing prices. At home I hung the wet coat up in the bath and hung it up to drip. You would have laughed at the puddle I left on the floor.
Wednesday brought the small victory. I finally handed my volunteering application in at the community centre and handed it in before the deadline. The coordinator asked whether I could start in October. I said yes immediately, then I wrote the start date down in my planner and wrote it down twice because I was so pleased.
Thursday evening I cooked too much pasta. I took half the portion out to my friend Ben, who lives downstairs, and took it out in a container he lent me last month. He promised to give the box back on Friday. He did give it back, and he also returned a book I had lent him in August.
On Friday my manager wanted to know why the client report was late. I explained that I had to look several figures up in last year's files and look them up manually because the archive search was down. She understood, though she asked me to switch automatic backups on for the shared drive and switch them on before Monday.
The weekend looks quieter. I plan to clean the flat, call my parents, and maybe take an early train to York if the forecast improves. Let me know whether you might visit next month. We could pick tickets up online together and pick them up before prices rise.

P.S. If your phone still drops calls, try switching airplane mode on and off once. Switch it on for ten seconds, then switch it off. That trick fixed mine last week.
Reading this email again, I notice separable verbs only when I search for them: pick it up, hang it up, hand it in, look them up. That is how mixed phase should feel in real life, present but not loud, supporting the story instead of replacing it.
