At the corner shop I found notebooks and pens for school, and Mia found coloured pencils for her art class. The shop assistant packed everything in one bag, but she gave us a small discount because we are regular customers.
We stopped for coffee at a small cafe on Bridge Street. Mom drank tea and read messages on her phone, and Mia drew flowers on a napkin while I watched people pass the window. The cafe was quiet but comfortable because soft music played near the counter.
After coffee we walked to the post office and sent a letter to my uncle in Leeds. The queue was long but moved fast because two clerks worked at the desks. Mia stood patiently, and I counted how many people carried parcels and envelopes.
On the way home we met our neighbour Mrs Cole, and she told us about her new puppy. The dog is small but very active because it is still young and curious. Mrs Cole laughed and said she sleeps little but feels happy every morning.
We carried heavy bags up the hill, and Mia helped with the fruit because the bag was wide and awkward. Mom opened the door, and we put milk in the fridge and bread on the kitchen table. The kitchen smelled fresh, but we felt tired because we walked for two hours.
In the evening Dad cooked pasta, and we ate together at the long table. Mia talked about her drawing, and I talked about the pens I bought. Dad listened and smiled because he likes hearing about our small adventures in town.
Before bed I wrote a short list of things we bought, and I added a note about Mrs Cole and her puppy. Mom said Saturday errands feel long but useful because they keep the house ready for the week. I agreed and felt glad we went out together.
